Day 5

Today was our last day of skiing. It was sad to say good bye to the slopes but we are all also looking forward to getting home to see our loved ones and get into our own beds, after what has been a busy trip.

The conditions today made it very difficult to ski. The pupils had to ensure that they were making a lot of turns and digging their skis in as overnight we had up to 8 inches of snow in some areas. Visibility was poor and by the end of the day everyone was tired and our legs had been given a good workout.

Cameron has persevered and after giving up midweek on his snowboard he had that “Sir, I can do it” moment today. Well done!

I would like to give a special mention to a few people. Alex is certainly our most technical skier as he moves down the advanced runs with flair and style. It is fair to say he is the best skier amongst our students.

We have another birthday in the morning, but we celebrated today as we will start our travel back home in the morning. Oliver L will be 16, so we wished him a Happy Birthday in advance. Although we are over 30 miles away from the nearest supermarket I did manage to source a birthday cake to celebrate the birthday of all 4 students and present them with some gifts We enjoyed the cake which was followed by a number of awards being presented to students. Johnny, Alex, Anton, Olivia S, Kelly and Dante all received rewards for various different achievements.

After the awards had been presented, we then moved on to the fiercely contested “How clean is your room competition.” As students packed for the journey back home and cleaned their rooms, we put a competitive slant on the task to make it more enjoyable. There are two $50 prizes to be won for the best room for girls and boys. I have to say the students did really well and made it difficult for the staff to decide which rooms are the winners. The winners will be announced in the morning once the staff have had time to discuss.

We will be heading to Boston in the morning for a shopping stop at Rockingham Mall, then move onto the watching the baseball match at Fenway park followed by Quincy market and then on to the airport.

I will update you with any details should they change but we expect to land in Manchester at 10.25am on Monday 3rd April 2023.
