Day 4 by Hannah and Lexie

Today was our first day at the Waterville Valley resort. Having been at Cannon for a few days already, most of us had picked up the basics by now. Everyone got on the really cool yellow school bus after breakfast (with our skis and everything which was a bit of a faff because we had to try and not break the windows) and headed down to the resort. We arrived at the new resort in time for our 9:30 lesson start. At Cannon, there had been three main groups of skiers but here at Waterville,  they merged some of the groups based on our newly gained abilities. Our new instructor was a cheerful guy called Steve and he quickly had us doing different skills. We had to take off one ski and try and ski in a circle which a few of us (Henry, Olivia P, Caitlyn and Lexie amongst others) but I wasn’t really getting the hang of the “you need to balance and not lean into the mountain” thing! The intermediate groups worked quickly through the green slopes and on to some blues with some nice parallel skiing by Chloe, Mia, Molly and Lucy - even if the odd skier was taken out accidentally (on purpose) while waiting in line.We then worked on turning correctly and taking little breaks until it was pretty much time for lunch. Lunch was really nice to be honest; Lexie had grilled cheese and chips and Dunkin coffee (of course) and I had some tasty chips - or should I say 'fries'. After lunch, Lexie and I worked on keeping our skis parallel whilst traversing the slopes and we were going super fast down the hill by the end of it. We did do a lot of skiing but I mean we also had like five snowball fights, sat at the bottom of the slope and made snow angels, took selfies on each-others phones and played baseball with the snowballs - which was the idea of one of the instructor's - she even ended up joining in! Soon enough, it was time to leave and we headed back to the Owls Nest to get ready for our visit to Tilton Mall. We did get a tad distracted and were almost late for the bus. Dinner was a packed lunch to take on the bus and eat on the way.Tilton Mall was more like Trafford Park than the Trafford Centre. But, it had some cool shops like Bath and Bodyworks and Levi’s.
A lot of us were quite happy to spend our (parents') money on sweets or candles but when the weather turned a bit wet, Starbucks beckoned. Roll on tomorrow's final day of skiing!
